Ingredients:

  • One teaspoon of non-iodized salt or purchase netipot salt at your local store.

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 2 cups warm distilled or boiled spring water (NEVER USE TAP WATER)

Instructions:

  • Dissolve the salt and baking soda in the warm water.

  • Pour the saline solution into the neti pot.

  • Lean over a sink and tilt your head to one side.

  • Insert the spout of the neti pot into your upper nostril.

  • Gently pour the saline solution into your nostril and let it flow out of the lower nostril. This takes some practice. Watch this video to learn how.

  • Repeat on the other side.

  • Blow your nose gently to remove any remaining saline solution and mucus.

  • Clean the neti pot thoroughly after each use to prevent contamination.
